JS libraries caching |
Google
has just released a CDN
(content distribution network) for major JS libraries. This means different web pages will start pointing to the same JS file location (at Google site - saving everybody money on bandwidth and loading with good speed). This means browser will only need to cache the library once! And, this means Bhoost can easily pre-fetch all those libraries into browser cache. This is really great news!

Dash has some features we plan for Bhoost |
The
Dash
- a new type of Internet-connected Car Navigation device that has some unique features (btw, Dash uses global wireless Internet provider
Jasper Wireless
). See
Linuxdevices detailed report
on this device.
-
Auto-discovered traffic
- Dash server collects speed of every Dash device and overlays all onto map. Low speed - high traffic.
-
Lookup a song
- see a list of the last three songs that were just played on their favorite AM or FM stations.
-
Theft-deterrent
- allows to remotely wipe out Dash's memory, shuts the device down - making it worthless to would-be thieves.

Java on iPhone |
while Sun and Apple are wrestling on this - there are two alternatives that we can try with Bhoost - JamVM and Innaworks.
JamVM
see screenshots of running
Jetty Servlet engine on iPhone
you can find more by searching for
JamVM in Google
:
apparently the main developer of JamVM did the port to ARM (processor on which iPhone runs)
so it is there - and looks like JamVM has a good Objective C bridge, so yea - Apple and Sun did not do the job, but seems like daring peoplehave made Java work on iPhone. And mind you, JamVM is J2SE, not J2ME
Innaworks
This solution
has worked before on Brew so it is proven. It may not be free though and I see no way to download it yet. Besides it is J2ME.
What works for is though is that Innaworks claims to have implemented JSR APIs for accelerometer, touch screen, etc.
